July: Life’s a trip
The children of Worli centre munched on freshly baked Parle G biscuits, thanks to a volunteer who sponsored a trip to the Parle G factory.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals [PETA] previewed a short film on how animals ought to be treated at the Bhuleshwar Centre.
Somit Doshi of India Outdoors took the children and staff of Bhuleshwar and Chandanwadi on a trek to the Karnala Bird Sanctuary.
June: School days are here again…
Smart new uniforms, the fresh smell of textbooks, new friends - 14 th June marked the beginning of another year at school. A flurry of activity at Sunbeam centres as teachers made sure the children’s names were on the rolls in the municipal schools. 581 children returned to school, and along with them were 42 new entrants from the Bridge course. The remaining 23 children were admitted to the pre-primary.
April: Holidays = Fun = Aksa camps
Laughter, games, food, mischief - the chief ingredients for the success of any camp. And the children of Chandanwadi, Worli, Bhuleshwar and Prakash Cotton Mills (which falls under the purview of Kamala Mills) found nothing wanting. It was a rewarding experience for the teachers and volunteers as well who attended the camp.
